Week 84: 10/18-10/24/2021

The big news: Presidio County is just 20 people away from 100% 12+ fully vaccinated.

Otherwise, this week is a continuation of Week 83: .5% increase in 12+ population fully vaccinated; Covid-19 hospitalizations down; Covid-19 cases down; peak Fatalities Data coming in around September 12.

This past Saturday, I went to a Halloween Carnival organized by the Pasadena Recreation Department. Despite all the young children, few adults were wearing (any kind of) masks. The Gym was packed with people and the kids were chasing after each other with plastic knives, inflatable clubs, and fistfuls of candy. Fortunately, I am booster-current.

This week, my husband and I will be attending a piano recital in the city. Proof of vaccination and masks will be presented with tickets for admission. We are not sticking around for the Gala Dinner afterwards.

Figure 1 shows that despite several weeks of reductions, all regions except the Border exceed our metrics from one year ago. Instead, Covid-19 hospitalizations are matching up with July 24-31 with Cases also trending down (See Figure 2).

To build on last week's New Mexico County Reports, updates for those bordering on El Paso County are as follows: On a per-population basis, these range from 22.6 (Dona Ana County) to 64.9 cases per 100k (Otero County) compared with 15.6 for El Paso County. Such results are increases from Week 83 and thus bear watching.
